Johanna and Richard live in Ballarat, spent the morning of their wedding in Dalesford and were married at Anderson’s Mill in a tiny little place called Smeaton. Typically Victorian, their wedding day in late November in was 10 degrees. And raining. And windy. And freezing. But honestly it could have been minus 10 for all they or I cared.
I met Jo and Rich in Canada two years ago when I shot another very special wedding. When I thanked Jo for choosing me to take their photographs, she corrected me and said I had chosen them. I know what she means. This one was always going to be my wedding, fortunately for any other contenders, there were no other contenders. All about moments not so much about things. It was real. It was a lump in your throat, tear in your eye kind of wedding. There was a best man’s speech which will forever be the best, best man’s speech I have ever heard. Thanks to Rich’s dad (the best man) I know exactly what I will say to my children on their wedding days.
Jo and Rich took a big risk turning a friendship into what they have. But its made what they have, rock solid. They love each other stupid. And they are fun. Like I never want this wedding to end fun. If I never got to shoot another wedding that would be ok. Because this, had it all. Well except for sunshine. There was none of that. Thank you Jo and Rich, you made me cry on your wedding day, thank you for asking your guests to put down their cameras, phones, iPads and be present with you at your ceremony, for trusting me to have it covered. You made me smile til my cheeks hurt while I edited these for you. Yes your wedding was the Best. Day. Ever.
Be warned, its a mega post.
Thank you to my amazingly talented, always fun, super sharp second shooter on this one, Myekie Benham. You are awesome. In many, many ways.

‘I fell in love with her when we were together, and then fell even more in love with her when we were apart’. And they were married, because that kind of love is for always.
And a little while later after the sun had set and the full moon started to rise, this happened.

It was 11 months ago that I shot my last wedding. In that time, clever me managed to grow and have a baby. Carla and Graeme’s wedding was always going to be special to me, it was the return to something I love. They both have the most kind and wonderful families. And they, Carla and Graeme, are just perfect for each other. They fell in love in high school, are still very much in love, and I am making an educated guess that they always will be. I shared the most beautiful day with them, and Carla and Graeme are exactly why I have the best job in the world.
